New Clarence White release from Sierra Records

Advance orders are now being accepted and most welcomed for Sierra Records' newest release "Clarence White: White Lightnin' (SXCD 6030), a collection of rare, mostly unreleased studio and live recordings available for the first time, on compact disc!

Shipping on October 21, 2008, exclusively to Sierra Mail Order customers only, this new release focuses on Clarence electric guitar work though it will contain some bluegrass guitar moments as well.

The highlights include: Clarence's first commercial, major label appearance on the now classic album, "New Dimensions in Banjo and Bluegrass-Weissberg & Brickman" which is currently available as "Deliverance-Soundtrack" (CD 465) but always missing the one instrumental, "No Title Yet Blues", whether on LP or CD, featuring Clarence's brilliant lead and rhythm guitar, this track is now heard for the first time on CD.

Recorded live in 1967 at the Nashville West Club in El Monte CA, you will hear Clarence's other country band, a band few, if any, ever heard, let alone saw, "THE ROUSTABOUTS", performing "Buckaroo", "Tango For A Sad Mood" and "Tuff and Stringy" followed by a never before release studio recording of another version of "Tuff and Stringy", all featuring Clarence on electric guitar and a full country band with pedal steel, piano, drums, bass.

From the Byrds era, more rare, unreleased studio tracks including a killer string bender instrumental, "Around the Barn", acoustic version of "Yesterday's Train" and a tune we are calling, "Sally (Goodin) meets the Byrds" and the out of print but now restored instrumental recording, "White's Lightning". Interspersed with these and other rare tracks on this CD is Clarence and his string bending Telecaster ripping off guitar licks as part of his home made practice/instruction tapes.

And finally, to make this an even "more special then it already is" offer, the first 500 orders received now for this advance CD release, will also receive a special limited edition, mini-two song DVD (playable in all regions) of Clarence performing live on stage and in color, "Truck Stop Girl" and "Take A Whiff On Me"! This mini DVD will not be available commercially and they WILL go fast. The advance pre-release price including the mini DVD to the first 500 who order is only $13.98 plus shipping and handling ($2.00 USA, $5.00 outside the USA ). This special pre-release price is good until October 21, 2008. After that the price will be $18.98 without the DVD plus shipping and handling. (California residents only pay curent state sales tax). The commercial release of "Clarence White: White Lightnin' (Sierra SXCD 6030)" will not be until January 2009.
