Byrds Live In Amsterdam 1970 to be released on CD

The famous concert by The Byrds at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, The Netherlands on July 7th, 1970, is planned for release on July 20th, 2018 on another in the "grey zone" semi-legal CD.

The complete concert was first released in 1990 on a green vinyl triple LP on the Swingin' Pig label. It was simultaneously released on a double CD by the same label. It was later re-released in various forms and formats since then.

Please note that the semi-legal semi-bootleggers used a picture of the wrong lineup with John York on the front cover found on an online shop - the bass player is of course Clyde "Skip" Battin.

From another source (another webshop), another front cover was printed.

R.I.P. Randy Scruggs

We just learned of the passing of Randy Scruggs on April 18th, 2018.

Randy Scruggs, as a member of The Scruggs Family, appeared alongside The Byrds on the "Earl Scruggs, His Family And Friends" LP and movie.

Two songs were performed: "You Ain't Going Nowhere" and "Nothin' To It".

Also appearing on the movie and LP with Randy Scruggs were Bob Dylan, Doc Watson, Joan Baez and more...

The Byrds segments are here (excerpts from the movie):

Featuring: Roger Mcguinn, Chris Hillman, Gram Parsons, Kevin Kelley, John Hartford & Clarence White...and more.

In 1968, The Byrds changed the course of popular music as Roger McGuinn, Chris Hillman & new members Gram Parsons and Kevin Kelley delivered one of the first bluegrass/rock albums with their masterpiece "Sweetheart Of The Rodeo". This album remains one of the most influential pieces of music of all time.

The masterwork kicks off with their hit "You Ain’t Going Nowhere" and follows with the brilliant "I Am A Pilgrim", featuring Chris Hillman.

More choice material abounds thanks to Gram Parsons with his signature works "Hickory Wind" and "One Hundred Years From Now".

Friday Music proudly presents for the first time on 180 Gram Translucent Blue & Green Swirl Audiophile Vinyl, the 50th Anniversary Edition of The Byrds’ "Sweetheart Of The Rodeo". Impeccably mastered by Joe Reagoso at Friday Music Studios & Capitol Mastering, the LP is pressed at R.T.I. and is featured in a stunning gatefold cover.
