---‘Sweethearts’ is a tribute to the Byrds 1968’s classic ‘Sweetheart Of The Rodeo’ album. Christian Parker & Earl Poole Ball, one of the original sessions, co-produced and contributed piano to this modern interpretation. JayDee Maness, one of the original pedal steel players making a special appearance, joined the sessions. In 1968, the album managed to disappoint and, in many cases, alienate almost everyone who heard it. It would be much later before it was recognized as the iconic piece of work that it is. ‘Sweetheart Of The Rodeo’ is widely regarded as the album defining country rock, but the rock part is almost silent. The whole thing is almost out and out of the country, with huge dollops of pedal steel, banjo, fiddle, and almost everything other kinds of instrument you would expect to hear in the mainstream twangy country that existed at that time.---

New CD by The Burrito Brothers

Although the current Burrito Brothers comprise no original member (Chris P. James, Tony Paoletta, Peter Young and new guitarist Steve Allen who replaces the recently deceased Bob Hatter), we feel we should mention that their new CD titled “Together” is out.

It seems the current members have put music to "unreleased" lyrics by Gram Parsons. Strange as "Mr. Customs Man" has already been released on the year 2000 album "THE GRAM PARSONS NOTEBOOK - THE LAST WHIPPOORWHILL" but titled "L.A. Customs Blues". I haven't checked if the melody is the same though. Probably not as the current lineup is credited for it.

A little while back, with a big assist from two of my sons, I made 'The Byrd Who Flew Alone' - a feature length documentary about Gene Clark, who I'm sure needs no introduction. You may have heard about it. Or even seen it.

Sadly we sold out of the DVD last year, TV screenings have come to an end and we're still trying to get it up on one of the streaming platforms.

But what is available is a new book I've written, about the struggles and joys of getting the film made, with minimal resources or experience and very little help from outside my family and Gene's.

R.I.P. Jim Gordon

Jim Gordon, ex-drummer for Derek & The Dominos, died March 13, 2023

Gordon performed on hundreds of notable recordings in the 1960s, including Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys (1966), Gene Clark with the Gosdin Brothers by Gene Clark (1967) and The Notorious Byrd Brothers by The Byrds (1968) to name but a few.

Italian label Appaloosa has just released a CD with a live concert by The Flying Burrito Brothers recorded at Sage, Germany on October 30, 1985.

To avoid copyright problems, the album is credited to “Greg Harris Live With Sneaky Pete And Skip Battin” (omitting drummer Jim Goodall on the way).

We just learned of a « new » CD by the current lineup of The Burrito Brothers.

A gathering of Chris James, Tony Paoletta, Peter Young, Michael Curtis, Ron Guilbeau, Walter  Egan, Noah Bellamy, Larry Patton, Ronnie Rael, Troy Krusz, Pamela Des Barres and Will James commemorated the 50^th anniversary of the release of “The Gilded Palace Of Sin” in 1969 by performing all the songs from the LP at The Local, Nashville on November 9, 2019.
