Gene Clark Sings For You...or does he?
Our regular visitor (and long time pen- and cyber friend) Mike M. from England has just spotted on an upcoming release list that on October 13th Omnivore Records
are releasing an album titled 'Gene Clark Sings For You' - the elusive
recordings hopefully...but seeing is believing.
Update 2017/07/28:
Our visitor J.P.M. asked Omnivore about it. Here's their reply:
"We do not have anything scheduled, so I’m not sure how (or where) that information would have originated from. May I ask where you heard about it?"
Update 2017/08/02:
However, a person very well known in Byrds cirles says...
"The GCSFY is coming out I believe before the end of the year. I believe there may also be bonus tracks."

Huge Byrds Collection For Sale
Byrds
Flyght is parting with its huge collection of Byrds and Byrds-related items
(records, reel-to-reel tapes, cassette tapes, CDs, CDRs, DVD, DVDrs, VHS video
tapes, posters, books, magazines, etc…).
As far as records and CDs are
concerned, we have a near-complete collection of every Byrds album release
(official and unofficial) as well as every solo or group album release by the
11 ex-members and every participation by the 11 ex-members in other artists’
albums (except for recordings by and with David Crosby – we only have a few by
him). We also have many 7’’ singles and E.P.s. Most of what we have can be
viewed on Byrds Flyght’s pages.
So now is the time to get this rare
item that you’ve been searching for for decades. Send an e-mail to Byrds Flyght
at
with details of what you’re looking
for, as well as the maximum price (including shipping) you’re willing to pay to
get it. No funny low prices please. Serious offers only.
We will answer every e-mail, but of
course we often have one copy only of each item. So don’t be disappointed if
the answer is negative. If so, it’s either because the item has already been
sold or because your offer doesn’t reach our own estimated value price. In the
latter case, we will tell you so and give you a second chance to make a higher
offer.

New CHRIS HILLMAN CD featuring Roger McGuinn, David Crosby, Tom Petty, Herb Pedersen, Jaydee Maness and more
Bidin’ My Time, the first new solo album in more than
a decade by CHRIS HILLMAN, a
founding member of The Byrds, Flying Burrito Brothers, Manassas and the Desert
Rose Band, will be released on Sept. 22 via Rounder Records. Tom Petty produced
the album at his studio in Southern California, and Hillman’s longtime
collaborator and co-founder of the Desert Rose Band, Herb Pedersen, served as
executive producer.
Featured performers and guests on the recording include Byrds
co-founders David Crosby and Roger McGuinn; Desert Rose Band alumni Pedersen,
John Jorgenson and Jay Dee Maness; Petty and fellow Heartbreakers Mike Campbell,
Steve Ferrone, and Benmont Tench. The album kicks off with a new recording of Pete Seeger’s and Welsh poet Idris Davies’ “The Bells of Rhymney,” which the Byrds recorded for their debut album, Mr. Tambourine Man. Crosby and Pedersen contribute harmonies to the tune. “I decided to cut it again because I wanted to sing with David and Herb, two great tenors,” Hillman said in a press release. “David just loves Herb’s singing, and at 75 years old, David is still a powerful singer, one of the best I’ve ever worked with or been around.”
Another Byrds nod, “Here She Comes Again,” was co-written by Hillman and McGuinn, and until now, had only been recorded on a live album in Australia. Hillman plays bass on the track—the instrument he originally played with the Byrds but hadn’t picked up in more than 30 years. “She Don’t Care About Time,” the original B-side to “Turn! Turn! Turn!,” was written by Byrds co-founder Gene Clark, who died in 1991.
Hillman also reworks “Old John Robertson,” first featured on
The Notorious Byrd Brothers in 1968, as “New Old John Robertson.” The
album also includes interpretations of the Everly Brothers’ “Walk Right Back,”
Petty’s “Wildflowers” and “When I Get a Little Money,” written by family friend
Nathan Barrow. See the full track listing below.
